Limits of hunger and poverty rose by 1.31 pct.

Limit of hunger of a family of 4-individual, parents and two childeren, rose to 1,190 lira and limit of poverty rose to 3,876 lira in September, both 15.31 percent higher than last year's limits, while the rises were at 10.03 percent since the begining of thes yeart

According to the outputs of the research prepared by Turk-Is, the monthly food expenditure (limit of hunger) of a family composed of 4, to get a healthy, balanced and sufficient nutrition, has increased to 1,190 lira.

When compulsory expenditures as clothing, rent, electricity, water and heating are added to the food expenditures, the limit of poverty reaches 3.876 lira.

The research prepared by Turk-Is was independent and the price data collected by the State Institute of Statistics was not used, said in the statement.

However the developments were closely monitored. The prices of the items used in the calculations were directly collected from the markets, grocery stores and local street markets by our expert, the statement said.
