INFORMANTS POINT TO ERDOĞAN

It has emerged that the reason for the removal from their posts of prosecutors conducting the FETO inquiry are comments by informants directed at Erdoğan and government members. The way that informant Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors members are talking of government approval for the alliance formed and plots hatched with the Gulenists and are holding him responsible has annoyed Erdoğan.

KODALAK LOOSES OUT

Erdoğan, starting to think that an operation is being conducted against him, replied to the accusations at a dinner he hosted for Association of Judicial Unity members three days ago. Following this speech, the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors operation against Ankara Chief Prosecutor Harun Kodalak and the other prosecutors on the FETO investigation began.

NINE SOLDIERS WOUNDED

A vehicle bomb attack was staged by ISIL militants in Al-Bab’s Suflaniyah district on the 150th day of the Euphrates Shield operation. In the attack, five specialised sergeants were killed and nine soldiers were wounded. Combined with yesterday’s attacks that filled Turkey with grief, the number of fallen soldiers has risen to 54.

AKAR GOES TO THE BORDER

Following the attack, the Turkish Armed Forces entered the zone, coming under fire, where ISIL militants were positioned. A large number of ISIL members were reportedly killed. Chief of the General Staff Akar, inspecting the border units in the company of the Land and Air Forces commanders, later proceeded to the İncirlik Base.

Pavey attended parliament yesterday in a wheelchair without her prosthetic arm and voted.

GREETED BY PROTEST AS HE COMES INTO OFFICE

Donald Trump took over the US presidency in a ceremony held yesterday. In Trump’s first message, he said that missile defence systems against North Korea and Iran will be strengthened. Protests, which have been continuing ever since Trump was elected, found fresh vigour during the swearing-in ceremony. Clashes erupted on the streets between demonstrators and police and 100 people were arrested. Actor Robert De Nero, Mark Ruffalo and Cher took part in the demonstrations in New York.

It has been claimed that the 113 sportspeople entered into the Fencing World Cup were all defeated in 678 matches. These sportspeople are alleged to have attended Physical Education and Sport Higher School without taking the entrance examination.
