İYİ Party General Chair Meral Akşener has said in an assessment she gave to Ankara Republic Chief Prosecution, which has launched a probe and consulted her for information over her claim that there are armed training camps in Tokat and Konya, “Since current Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu was the former general chair of the Democrat Party, information was given from time to time to be conveyed to him.” Akşener said, “Somebody whose name I cannot reveal has shown me photographs with the claim that civilian individuals are being given armed training in the Tokat countryside.”

Akşener conveyed the following information to the prosecution: “I am not in possession of hard information about where armed training is being given in the provinces of Tokat and Konya, and by and to whom. The person who showed photographs in terms of the location and whose name I cannot reveal said this was in the Tokat and Konya countryside. I do not know which sub-province’s borders this is in. I have no hard information about where in other provinces and sub-provinces of Turkey armed training is being given, by whom and to which civilian citizens. It is possible through conducting research for it to be determined through research with the state’s resources whether or not there are camps of this kind. I intimated this to the press given that it is an important issue and to go public with the things that have reached my ear, and I asked the government if there was such a state of affairs. I have no doubt that our state will do what is warranted.”
