Council of Higher Education Chair comments on Cerrahpaşa dean’s dismissal

Council of Higher Education Chair, Yekta Saraç, commented on the “Weekend” programme with Hakan Çelik on the dismissal of Cerrahpaşa Dean Prof. Dr. Alaattin Duran following Muharrem İnce's visit.

 Saraç said, “I like the dean. There was political aspect of the Cerrahpaşa visit – those are faculty grounds. I am sure that the esteemed people from the CHP do not look favourably on campaigning being conducted on faculty grounds. There was the opening of a centre there. The people there will for sure discuss issues with students. But, the business of those there is first and foremost being students. They are not a body of voters. He resigned but we did not conduct the procedures relating to him. If the affair is regarded in this way, should we or should we not permit campaigning? This matter needs to be debated. This process must be managed correctly by administrators. No stance towards the dean is involved. The administrators were incapable of managing the situation.”
