Has Erdoğan reached the point of saying the Arabs stabbed us in the back?

President Tayyip Erdoğan called out to United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed, who had accused Fahreddin Pasha of theft, “With Fahreddin Pasha defending Medina, where was your forefather, oh wretched one?”
 
Erdoğan, recalling that certain Arab tribes joined the British ranks during the siege of Medina, remarked, “Oh these wretched people who are deluded enough as to say that Erdoğan’s forefathers stole holy entrusted artefacts and brought them to Istanbul – the name of this is not stealing but, quite the reverse, protecting them from incoming occupiers. In the name of what? In the name of martyrdom. Fahreddin Pasha, for the time he was in Medina, which was besieged by certain Arab tribes who had been turned against the Ottoman Empire with a whole host of promises from the famous British agent Lawrence, not only staged a defence, but administered the city justly.”

Erdoğan, who in his speech yesterday asked the Arab minister where his forefather had been while Fahreddin Pasha was defending Medina and spoke of the Arab tribes that joined the British ranks during World War I, had on the other hand said in the speech he made to the AKP Group meeting on 25 July 2017, “The Siege of Kut and Fahrettin Pasha’s defence of Medina was one of the greatest blows to the British who had come to occupy the region. The time has finally come to lay to rest the lie, “The Arabs stabbed us in the back” that was deliberately and incorrectly included in text books in the past.”
