Home raids in Ankara - Prof. Dr. Onur Hamzaoğlu arrested
In operations conducted in Ankara this morning, a large number of people have been arrested, including Peoples' Democratic Congress Co-Spokesperson Prof. Dr. Onur Hamzaoğlu.
Ankara Republic Chief Prosecution staged an operation this morning in Ankara targeting representatives of elements within the HDP as part of an investigation it has launched into people accused of protesting against the “Olive Branch operation” on social media and attempting to bring the people onto the street.
Signatory of the Academics for Peace announcement and Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Onur Hamzaoğlu, Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Deputy General Chair Fadime Çelebi, Socialist Solidarity Platform (SODAP) Spokesperson Kezban Konukçu, Green Left Party Co-Spokespersons Eylem Tuncaelli and Naci Sönmez, Revolutionary Party General Chair Musa Piroğlu, Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) Co-General Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları and Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) member Ozancan Sarı were arrested in the operations.
It has been learnt that a police raid was also staged on Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Gülistan Koçyiğit’s home in İzmir Menemen.
It is notable that the operations come just before the HDP congress scheduled for the weekend.
