In the operation directed at the HDP, along with Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, HDP Group Vice Chair İdris Baluken and members of parliament Nursel Aydoğan, Gülser Yıldırım, Leyla Birlik, Selma Irmak and Ferhat Encü have been remanded.

Following the remand order, Demirtaş's lawyer Mahsuni Kahraman read out Demirtaş's hand-written message.

Demirtaş's message:

Kahraman read out Demirtaş's message with an emphasis on peace stating, “We are face to face with another stage of the ongoing civilian coup orchestrated by the government and palace. I and my colleagues will continue to stand firm in all places and all stages against this illegal coup. I want it to be known that we will remain true to the struggle for democracy, freedom and peace that our people have waged with sacrifice. These oppression-filled days will end sooner or later in the face of our resistance. Those who imagine they can break our will have only confirmed how pathetic they are with these cheap stunts. We will continue our political struggle come what may. We will continue to make our calls for peace. I convey my most sincere greetings and affection to all friends.”

Which prison will they be taken to?

The HDP parliamentarians’ lawyer, Mehmet Emin Aktar, indicating that he suspected the remanded Co-Chairs Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ would be taken to a prison outside Diyarbakır, said, “But, we know he will be taken to the airport. I’ve been asked to prepare a bag for him. Figen Yüksekdağ will also most probably be taken outside Diyarbakır, too. That’s what we expect, at least.”
