The Washington-based think tank Freedom House has stated that Turkey is the country that has regressed the most in terms of freedom in 2016.

Freedom House’s Turkey section analyst Elen Aghekyan, assessing the report, said, ‘All state institutions in Turkey have ceased to function. This also applies to the judiciary. Press freedom is at an all-time low and if things continue like this they may reach a further low.’
