Rights abuses in prisons are beginning to skyrocket following the state of emergency proclaimed in the aftermath of the coup attempt. A large number of those convicted on political grounds have been transferred to distant places for no reason and their communication rights have been restricted; and hooded clothing, glasses with handles, forks, metal plates, woollen socks, ornaments made of bone and beads and even prayer beads are now forbidden in prisons.
