Inquiry commission to be set up for former ministers
Turkey’s parliament approved on Monday to set up an inquiry commission into the allegations on four former ministers.
Some overwhelming 453 votes were in favour of setting up an inquiry commission into the allegations on four former ministers, former Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan, former EU Minister Egemen Bağış, former Interior Minister Muammer Güler and former Urbanization and Environment Planning Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar, while 9 were against in a 16-hour-long parliamentary session on Monday.
Prior to the voting, the former ministers were given the opportunity for the first time to respond to allegations against them. The main opposition CHP’s demand for separate motions for the ministers was rejected.
