Nuriye Gülmen taken unannounced into intensive care

Nuriye Gülmen was taken into intensive care at midnight on the 202^nd day of her hunger strike unannounced to anyone. One of Gülmen’s lawyers, Mehmet Refik Atalay, indicating that Gülmen had been taken into intensive care although there had been absolutely no change in her condition, stated that he had not yet seen Gülmen. Gülmen, who is being held in intensive care at Numune Training and Research Hospital, is being denied visits by either her escort or her lawyers.

Lawyer Atalay, stating that there had not yet been forcible intervention, said that CHP Ankara Member of Parliament, Şenal Sarıhan, had come to the hospital and spoken to the assistant chief physician. Lawyer Atalay, saying that the assistant chief physician was unaware of Gülmen’s condition, stated that they will continue to wait at the hospital until information is obtained.

The comments made on Gülmen’s behalf on her Twitter account are as follow:

“With there being no new development in the hospital room where Nuriye Gülmen was staying, she was forcibly abducted while reading a book and brought to Numune Hospital. She was placed in the intensive care service. A human wall of gendarmerie officers has been placed in front of intensive care. (Last week there were no staff for the court!) Her escort, her sister Beyza, is not being admitted to her side! Nuriye is not being presented to her lawyers! There are two days until the hearing slated for 28 September in Sincan! The purpose of doing this two days before the hearing is to abduct Nuriye from the hearing. Nuriye was preparing for the hearing. Nuriye and Semih are being abducted by the AKP rulership without even being brought before the court! They are committing murder before the eyes of the millions!”

CLAIMS OF “FORCIBLE INTERVENTION” ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The taking of Nuriye Gülmen into the intensive care service two days before the trial is due to be heard on 28 September has given rise to claims of “forcible intervention” on social media.
