Attack with clubs on the Scientific and Secular Education Movement’s stand in Kadıköy

The Scientific and Secular Education Movement set up a stand in Kadıköy’s Kalkedon Square to promote attendance at the “Let’s halt the non-scientific educational programme” action slated for 5 pm on Saturday 16 September.
An attack with iron bars and clubs was staged by a group on the stand set up by the Scientific and Secular Education Movement. Following the incident, the assailants fled from the scene. Efforts by the police resulted in the arrest of four people a short time later at a point close to the scene of the incident.
It has been learnt that Ugur S., Burak T., Mustafa A. and Bilal T., who were taken to Kadıköy Sub-Province Police Directorate’s Police Centre, had a large number of police records for various offences. It has also been established that three of the assailants suffer from substance abuse. The police have initiated a wide-ranging investigation into the incident.
It has been learnt that the assailants were sent to the judicial complex following health checks.
