The court has announced its reasoned decision in the defamation case brought Baskın Oran, one of the academics at the receiving end of such pronouncements as ‘Base, brutal, treasonous and immoral’ for having signed the peace declaration.
The court, saying that, ‘It must be accepted that [Erdoğan’s] speech amounted to the exercising of the right to criticise and express a contrary opinion,’ said that Erdoğan’s ‘defamation was natural and part of the normal course of affairs.’
