Call from Journalists on the Outside: Let us assemble for Cumhuriyet

The third session of the conspiracy trial in which our newspaper’s Executive Board Chair Akın Atalay, Attorney-at-Law, our Editor-in-Chief Murat Sabuncu, our publishing consultant and columnist Kadri Gürsel, our reporter Ahmet Şık and our accounting employee Emre İper are being held in detention pending trial will commence at 14.30 hours on Monday at Istanbul Judicial Complex in Çağlayan. There will be an assembly at 13.30 in front of Çağlayan Judicial Complex.

The Journalists on the Outside Initiative has called in a new social media campaign for people to observe the Cumhuriyet trial. Contained in a drawing signed by Zeynep Özatalay that has been posted on social media and features our detained managers and columnists are the messages, “The price of journalism. Right will surely prevail in the end. #you are hope, #freedom for journalists.”
