It has emerged that during the search for Adil Öksüz, who is alleged to have been in charge of Akıncı Base at the time of the 15 July attempted coup and who was released under controversial circumstances after having been arrested on 16 July, his two phones were turned on. The US Istanbul Consulate General has revealed that it called Öksüz on 21 July to tell him that his visa had been cancelled.
The failure for Öksüz to be apprehended despite his phone emitting signals in Mersin and Sakarya has raised question marks. Prime-Minister Yıldırım said with reference to the comment by the US Consulate General that they had called him to tell him that his visa had been cancelled: ‘If you fall for it. Everything is over and now this comes along.’
