PROSECUTORS AWAIT INSTRUCTIONS
CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu read the names of our remanded colleagues one by one at the party’s group meeting and expressed dismay at the continued absence of an indictment. Kılıçdaroğlu called out to prosecutors: ‘What kind of justice is this? It is clear that there are instructions from certain places and they are waiting. If the word ‘Republic’ appears in your job title, do what is called for. Do not be somebody’s slave or vassal; do not be the rulership’s cudgel.’
The way to the ECHR is open for the Cumhuriyet remandees
The Cumhuriyet group has been detained for 101 days. Applications made to the Constitutional Court pursuant to Article 19 of the Constitution and 5/4 of the European Convention on Human Rights have not yet been examined. If the Constitutional Court does not examine and rule on these complaints within a short time, the way to the European Court of Human Rights will open for the Cumhuriyet remandees.
REMANDEES’ WIVES IN PARLIAMENT
‘They will come out stronger’
The wives of our paper’s columnists and managers who are being held on remand in an unlawful manner visited Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday. The wives of the detainees said, ‘Our husbands will come out of incarceration stronger.’ Kılıçdaroğlu, saying the main cause that is delaying the indictment is ‘lack of evidence,’ commented, ‘There is no evidence so what are they to be charged with? They are creating a pretext for incarceration by delaying the indictment for a lengthy period.’
