UNDECIDED INCLINED TOWARDS ‘NO’
With three weeks left until the referendum, the AKP is not getting good news. Mehmet Ali Kulat, Board of Directors’ Chair of MAK Consultancy, known for being close to the AKP, says that polls show ‘Yes’ votes in the 45-47% band and the undecided are more inclined towards ‘No’ than ‘Yes’.
15 JULY VICTIMHOOD
Kulat has said, ‘Up to ten per cent of the AKP’s electorate will not vote ‘Yes’. We see that there are AKP supporters who, despite saying they will vote ‘Yes’ when interviewed, will vote ‘No’.’ Kulat says that the victimhood created in the aftermath of 15 July is also having an effect.
THE MHP RANK AND FILE: LET THE AKP DO THE WORK
The organisations of the MHP, the AKP’s ‘Yes’ partner, are not doing campaign work. Their party chair notwithstanding, the MHP organisations are reportedly saying, ‘This referendum is being held for the AKP, not us. So, let them do the work.’
‘MIND YOUR LANGUAGE’
Former ministers have complained about campaign rhetoric in a meeting held with the Prime-Minister. The ministers, citing the AKP’s Mustafa Biberoğlu, who said, ‘Those who support ‘No’ are of dubious lineage, are not Turkish and are not at all Muslim,’ called on such rhetoric to be ended.
