Family company

“My children, brother, brother-in-law, son’s father-in-law and former executive assistant supposedly sent millions of dollars abroad. (...) Are there documents for the claims you have asserted? If so, come out and I will immediately do what is called for. (...) This individual will neither be able to produce documents nor will he be able to come out and apologise.”
This is what Erdoğan said two days ago with great rage. The recipient of this comment, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, yesterday documented at his party’s group meeting that the child, brother, brother-in-law and son’s father-in-law had sent millions of dollars to an offshore company on the Isle of Man.
The documents have yet to be examined, but AKP Deputy Group Chair Bülent Turan, saying, “The documents he revealed were of commercial origin,” both consented to the veracity of these documents and hinted that he had prior knowledge of this commercial relationship.
For what reason did the child, brother, brother-in-law and son’s father-in-law send millions of dollars to a tax haven? What deal was involved? For what reason are these deals being transacted through a company established by Sıtkı Ayan, a businessman with Iranian connections? What is being bought and what is being sold?
Mr Erdoğan spoke of doing what was called for if it was proved that the child, brother, brother-in-law and son’s father-in-law had sent millions of dollars abroad. What is it that is called for? Getting cross with the child, brother, brother-in-law and son’s father-in-law? Being miffed with them? Patting them on the back, saying these things happen?
We know that resignation is not what is called for. Mr Erdoğan, a master at the art of rhetoric in common with most politicians, has said that he will only resign if there is an account in his name abroad. Following this comment, most people have begun to think that Kılıçdaroğlu’s claims could be true. He appears to be vindicated.
Why did son Burak Erdoğan, brother Mustafa Erdoğan, brother-in-law Ziya Ülgen and son’s father-in-law Osman Ketenci, taking Erdoğan’s former executive assistant along with them, send a total of fifteen million dollars to a company on the Isle of Man? Do this crafty five send millions of dollars to other places?
What is the significance of Sıtkı Ayan, the founder of the company to which the millions of dollars were sent, receiving the second largest state incentive in the history of the Republic for transporting natural gas from Iran to Europe? Is this affair connected to the petrol tanker which Azeri businessman Mübariz Mansimov is alleged to have gifted?
Perhaps the owner of Som Petrol, Sıtkı Ayan, knows the answers to these questions?
There was a time when certain politicians spoke of the need to run the state like a business. However, they were probably not talking about turning the whole state into a family company.
Erdoğan said he would do what was called for. What is called for? He said yesterday while speaking about the civil service, “Unless I call one of my ministers or a civil servant, even if it is my father’s son they should put him on the other side of the door.”
Let us see where he will put his own father’s son, his own son, his brother-in-law and his son’s father-in-law.
