Major pile-up on TEM highway; 42 injured

24 vehicles crashed in a major pile-up on TEM highway in the direction of capital Ankara near Kocaeli province in western Turkey at about 9pm on Tuesday night. 18 lorries and articulated lorries, 2 buses, 1 tankers, and 3 cars were involved in the accident. 42 people were wounded in the pile-up, and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The road was closed to traffic and vehicles were directed to the alternative D-100 road until 2am on Wednesday, when the accident scene was cleared of the vehicles involved in the pile-up.
